They are also known as over denture implants, dentures that are attached to dental implants that have been surgically implanted into the jawbone. Implant supported dentures are a more stable and modern version of regular dentures. While regular dentures rest on top of the gum tissue and underlying jawbone, implant supported dentures remain anchored in place by a dental implant. They eliminate problems often associated with regular dentures, like loosening while laughing or sneezing, or slipping while speaking. Because they are a more stable solution than regular dentures, patients often report an increase in confidence and a more overall youthful appearance.

In order for implant supported dentures to be successful, dental implants are recommended only for healthy patients with healthy gum tissue and gums that are free of periodontal disease. Patients must also have adequate bone levels in their jaw to support the dental implant, which can be assessed at our clinic with the use of our Cone Beam CT.
